Donations: The Villages relies on generous friends to bridge the gap between the reimbursement provided by the state for the care of youth in state custody and the actual cost of the services provided to the youth. At times over the past 40 years the reimbursement rate has fallen woefully behind even the basic costs of food, shelter and required adult supervision. At no point has the reimbursement rate provided for the all-important 'extras' that are provided to every youth at The Villages and which are critical to their success.
